Venango County Jail Roster

The Venango County Jail inmate registry is a public resource that allows anyone to check if a specific person is in custody. VenangoCourt.us provides access to publicly available information about current and recently released inmates. Additionally, data can be obtained through the official website of the Venango County Sheriff's Office, in person at the prison reception, or by calling the main number of the facility. A search in the registry allows you to find out the custody status, charges, and admission date. The registry is maintained by Venango County Prison — a county correctional facility in the state of Pennsylvania. Data is updated regularly and posted on county resources.

Search Current Inmates in Venango Jail

There are several ways to find information about an inmate currently in Venango County Prison.

Online Search

  1. Visit VenangoCourt.us to search for public information about county court cases and inmates.
  2. If the person has been transferred to a state-level facility, use the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections inmate locator. Note: this tool does not display individuals held in county jails.
  3. To search court cases in the Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania, go to the UJS case search portal.

To start a search, you will need:

  • The person's full official first and last name
  • Booking number, if known

Records of juvenile offenders are not included in the public registry.

By Phone

Call the prison directly and provide the operator with the person's full name. The staff will be able to confirm if they are in custody.

In Person

You can visit the facility's reception during working hours. Bring an identification document with you.

Find Venango Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the time of a person's admission to the facility. It is the first official document that records the fact of being in custody.

What a booking record contains:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of admission
  • Charges filed
  • Arresting agency (local police, sheriff, Pennsylvania State Police)
  • Basic identification data — name, date of birth, gender

Access to booking records can be obtained in several ways. The online prison registry usually displays basic information about current inmates. If you need more detailed records — such as archival data or document copies — submit a request in accordance with the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law through the PA Office of Open Records. The request is addressed directly to the county prison or sheriff's office.

To check a person's criminal history separately from booking records, there is the PATCH (Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History) system, administered by the State Police.

Search the Venango Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The registry supports two main search methods.

By Last Name

Enter the last name in the search field. You can add the first name to narrow down the results. If the system does not support a separate search field, use the browser's search function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) to navigate the list.

Practical tips:

  • Check the spelling — even one extra letter can lead to no results
  • Try different spellings of the last name if it has unusual transliteration
  • If partial search is supported, enter only the first few letters of the last name

By Booking Number

If you know the booking number, enter it directly. This is the most accurate method — it will immediately bring up the specific record without the need to filter out namesakes.

If the Search Yields No Results

The absence of results does not always mean the person is not in custody. Possible reasons:

  1. The record has not yet been entered into the system — processing after admission takes some time.
  2. The person has already been released or transferred to another facility.
  3. The name was entered incorrectly.
  4. If the person has been transferred to a state-level facility, check the Pennsylvania inmate and parolee locator.

If in doubt, call the prison directly.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Venango

The Venango County inmate registry is updated periodically, but not in real-time. There may be a delay of several hours to one business day between the actual admission of a person and the appearance of their data in the system. A similar delay occurs upon release — the record may remain visible for some time after the person has left the facility.

Main limitations to be aware of:

LimitationExplanation
Data entry delayNew records do not appear immediately after booking
Disappearance of records after releaseThe registry only displays current inmates, not an archive of all past bookings
Transferred inmatesIndividuals transferred to state DOC facilities disappear from the county registry
MinorsRecords of individuals under 18 are not published
Data accuracyPossible input errors — incorrect name spelling, inaccurate dates

The registry is not an archive. It only shows those who are in custody at the time of viewing. To obtain historical data on past bookings, submit a written request to the prison administration or use the Right-to-Know Law procedure. Criminal history checks can also be ordered through the Pennsylvania State Police.
